ABOUT COLE
Cole Johnston is known as one of New Zealand's most successful young performers within the Musical Theatre Industry. He began performing in 2007 at the age of 9 when he was cast as a "Skater Dude" in Disney's High School Musical, presented by the National Youth Theatre Company. He quickly realised this was his calling. Cole continued to pursue as many theatrical opportunities at school, community theatre societies and at NYTC. By the age of 17, he had been involved with over 40 full scale musicals and plays.
Cole began busking at markets on weekends which led him to several gigs including weddings, corporate functions and private functions. Since 2017, Cole's been working as a professional singer and actor based in Auckland, New Zealand.
Cole has been seen in the NZ and Australian tours of 'Madagascar the Musical' with GMG productions playing the role of ‘Skipper’ and ‘Maurice’ whilst understudying ‘King Julien’, the NZ tour of 'CATS' with Sierra Investments and the NZ premiere of 'City of 100 Lovers'. He also has been in a variety of concerts and cabarets around the country. Whilst continuing to pursue his dream of performing, Cole is also incredibly passionate about helping provide more opportunity in the Arts for Youth in NZ.
After closing the Australian tour of Madagascar the Musical, Cole was selected as a Lead Vocalist with Seabourn Cruiselines and spent 2023 sailing on the Seabourn Sojourn. He was also appointed Vocal Captain during the contract. He then was offered to join the Crystal Serenity with the luxury cruise line, Crystal Cruises where he is currently Lead Vocalist.
